Did you know your dreams are a visual gift from you to yourself filled with messages of love, life, and guidance for health? A dream un-remembered is a love letter to self left unread or a drawing in your sleeping mind that is unappreciated.

What do dreams and drawings have in common? The short answer is health, healing, the diagnosis of life threatening illnesses, the incredible research of Dr. Larry Burk and Dr. Bernie Siegel, and the interest of the Dr. Oz Show: Shocking Premonitions which featured author Kathleen O’Keefe-Kanavos and aired during the SWEEPs February 2017.

Precognitive dreams (dreams that come true) and random drawings are getting attention and gaining the respect of the medical community after recent medical studies prove there is more to dreaming and drawing than rest and relaxation.

Dream messages of illness validated by pathology reports have saved people from an untimely death.

Dr. Bernie Siegel, who always prefers to be called Bernie by everyone, points out, “Larry and I got information in medical school. We didn’t get an education. Doctor’s don’t get into people’s lives to see what makes them vulnerable, which may be part of the cause of their physical disease.”

“Most medical doctors are trained to treat the result, not the cause of illness,” Bernie explains. Bernie has been working with dreams, “for a hundred years or so…” and believes if we listen to our dreams, they will correctly diagnose our life. “I don’t know any medical schools that tell their students to ask people what they are dreaming.’”

To prove his point, Bernie shares the story of a woman who had a dream in which an East Indian female doctor told her she had cancer. Upon awakening, the next morning she immediately went to the cancer center for testing. A suspicious area was found on her mammogram and surgery was scheduled. On the day of her procedure, her surgeon turned out to be the doctor in her dream.

Dr. Larry Burk, a Radiologist at Duke University, just completed a ground- breaking study involving eighteen women who had warning dreams preceding the diagnosis of breast cancer.

These dreams involved spirit guides, angels, voices, tactile intervention in the dream, synchronicities, symbolism, and visitations from deceased loved ones. The dreams were all validated by a medical report. Dr. Burk’s TedX talk and an article in the Huffington Post also details the study.

“Dreams in some sense are giving us information all the time and interpreting things happening to us. They are often a metaphor for living our life like a waking dream,” says Dr. Burk.

Dreams can give you specific information exemplified by the eighteen women in his study whose dreams guided them to get mammograms, examinations, tests, or surgeries. In some cases, the women were told by their physicians they were healthy and to go home after the initial tests. However, their dreams persisted and often demanded the dreamer return for additional tests.

In the end, the dreams were found to be right and the previous medical tests wrong, much to the surprise of the medical teams. In some cases, patients shared their dreams with their doctors who understood the wisdom in the dream and immediately requested additional testing.

Although the dreamers were different, the results were the same. Dreams saved lives.

“I think we are just scratching the tip of the iceberg here with the number of women around the world having this kind of breast cancer dream,” Dr. Burk says. He has begun collecting other precognitive warning dreams on all manners of health for a book he is currently writing.

Just as Dr. Bernie Siegel’s patient’s drawings were amazing in their ability to diagnose illness, so also were the patient’s dreams in Dr. Larry Burk’s precognitive dream study group. They were “so precognitive that patients saw their future doctors or operating rooms in the dreams.”

Perhaps the next time we have our check up and the doctor asks, “So, how are you,” we should whip out paper and crayons, make a few drawings, share a dream or two and say, “You tell me.” It may make for a much more interesting visit. At the very least it will brighten up your doctor’s day or be the topic of conversation at the next big cocktail party.

I know, because my doctor told me I was the talk-of-the-town after three precognitive dreams diagnosed my breast cancers all three times. Sixteen years later, I’m still alive to write this article for you.

Is there a paradigm shift taking place in the medical community concerning dreams, diagnosis, and healing? Are nightmares a healthy gift we should embrace? Dare we dream that big? Yes! Let’s move toward healing the whole body, including our mind and spirit, one dream at a time.
